Unique and holistic

  • The Gyrotonic method is performed on multiple types of custom-designed Gyrotonic equipment. Utilizing pulleys, free weights and other specialized design features, the equipment supports a diverse range of movement patterns.

Exercise sequences are generally composed of spiraling, circular movements which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breathing patterns. Each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression.

  • The Gyrotonic Method provides a full-body workout, addressing the entire person both physically and energetically. Exercises are designed to improve strength and movement efficiency, increase range of motion, open energy pathways and stimulate the nervous system.

Clients love this "swimming on land" method of movement, and the equipment helps support healthy movement patterns without jarring the joints or loading muscle tissue in an unhealthy way.

Gyrotonic sessions include carefully crafted sequences to create balance, agility, strength and flexibility.

  • The Gyrotonic Expansion System was developed by Juliu Horvath, an ethnic Hungarian and professional dancer from Romania.

Horvath suffered a series of debilitating injuries during his dance career and sought a movement method that would help him heal and regain his strength and agility.

Over the course of many years, he developed what are now known as the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Methods.

To support the Method’s movement sequences, he developed his woodworking craft and built his original equipment by hand, which accounts for the beautiful and organic designs of Gyrotonic equipment.
