Romana's Pilates Instructor
Amanda is a Texas native who has always been fascinated by physical movement and wellness. Her journey began at age 4 when she began studying dance. Following many years of dance training, she was introduced to Yoga in 1996 and was called to teach in 2002 as an apprentice at the Center for Yoga in Los Angeles. She has since completed comprehensive training in Pilates and the GYROTONIC® method.
Amanda is an intuitive teacher who can challenge the expert teacher one hour and lead the gentlest of sessions the next. She approaches movement as a healthy expression of life and champions personal embodiment over perfection.
Amanda has been wonderful. She works with me individually and pays special attention to how I am doing each week. I am starting to gain some strength back and I owe it all to the special care I've received at Somaspace. I highly recommend Somaspace to anyone, especially Breast Cancer Survivors.
Amanda believes teaching is a way to celebrate being alive and functional. It also keeps her in touch with what matters in life.
I have known Amanda as a Pilates teacher in our Austin community for a number of years. A few years ago, Amanda completed a year-long Passing the Torch Mentoring Program with me, which is a unique educational opportunity for experienced Pilates teachers. In that intensive program I really got to know Amanda's vision and passion for teaching. I have a tremendous respect for her integrity, dedication to her clients' empowerment, and willingness to be coached to be the best teacher she can be. I am honored to call her a colleague.
Amanda has had the honor of learning from numerous seasoned teachers, including Amanda Owens, Juliu Horvath, Emma Kingston, Benjamin Degenhardt and Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle.
Amanda has earned advanced certifications as a Pre- and Post-Natal Instructor, Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist and Osteoporosis Specialist.
